Western Canada's premiere youth development cycling team!
The Victoria Academy of Cycling is BC's only youth specific Cycling Team providing a fun and safe environment for young riders to get into the sport of cycling and start bike racing. The Victoria Academy of Cycling runs multiple coach lead group rides every week where young riders are taught how to ride safely on the roads and trails while developing their race specific cycling skills and fitness. As athletes develop they are introduced to a variety of cycling events and competitions where they can chose their favourites and train specifically for the events they enjoy. Many of our riders have gone on to compete at and win Provincial and National Championship races and a few have even made it on to Professional Teams.
Programs are available for riders 10-18 years old; all designed and supervised by one of Canada's top cycling coaches, Steve Lund. Steve has extensive experience coaching both developing athletes and champions such as Olympic Triathlon Gold Medallist, Simon Whitfield and Canadian Olympian Gina Grain. Steve graduated from the University of Victoria's National Coaching Institute in 1998, he is a Level 4 certified coach and NCCP Master Course Conductor with over 20 years experience in cycling.
We provide a step by step development pathway for aspiring young athletes, our riders consistently make it on to the Cycling BC Provincial Team, the Canadian national Team - and ultimately on to professional cycling teams. The Victoria Academy of Cycling travels as a team to 6-8 Provincial level races each season where we can fully support and coach our riders in these important competitions. Over the past several years Victoria Academy of Cycling riders have consistently made up the majority of the BC Provincial Road Team and have done very well at National and World Championships.
Victoria Academy of Cycling athletes have a proven record of getting results. This puts them on top of podiums and in the media, a great team to be associated with as a sponsor!
